The Birth of a Book: I will never forget receiving a phone call that changed my life. It was about a friend, whose daughter was murdered. A senseless killing, like so many others, that had left a child without a mother and a mother and father without their daughter. But what made this different from any other news of this sort, was how God opened heaven and began pouring into my life. I was driving home from work, one Tuesday afternoon, with the urgency to pray for the family and the murderer. I prayed that the family would be able to find God’s peace and rest, and that the murderer would somehow find salvation in Christ. It was during this time of prayer that God revealed Himself to me in a way that I did not expect. For some reason, I prayed that God would give me the strength to love and forgive the murderer as if he had murdered my own daughter. In that instant, God spoke into my spirit, “Love and forgiveness only come from Me, and they are two of my weapons of warfare that I have given to you.” At this point, I could hardly drive as my mind raced to a time when I heard someone preach about 2 Corinthians 10:4. They read the scripture and said, “What this means is that we cannot fashion the weapons of spiritual warfare with our hands.” That was it, a simple explanation, without any real answers. Now, at this moment, God opened up heaven to show me two of our weapons of warfare. I was so excited, I asked the Lord to give me more of this revelation. My mind began to race as He began to download. I did not have anything to write with, so I was also praying for my memory to keep all of this information readily available when I needed to recall it. As the Lord continued to feed me, I received a phone call from my pastor. At our church, we have mid week services on Thursday evenings, and I was figuring that the pastor and associate pastor would go to the visitation. I prayed for us to have church if the visitation was on Thursday evening. During this call, my pastor asked if I knew about the murder of our friend’s daughter. I acknowledged that I did and told him that I had just been praying about the situation. He informed me that the visitation was on Thursday and wanted to know if I could preach for him. That Thursday evening, I preached on 14 weapons of warfare, but my study did not stop there. I began to write about each weapon in a monthly newsletter and ended up with 23 weapons. As a note, my writing is a testimony all to itself, another powerful God moment in my life. The book is a result of 23 months of research and writing for the glory of the kingdom of God, and for strengthening the body of Christ.
